Fertility & Pregnancy Reflexology

Reflexology can have major benefits before, during and after pregnancy. Studies and extensive anecdotal evidence have shown that regular reflexology treatments can improve the likelihood of a healthy natural conception. Reflexology can enhance fertility by influencing hormone levels and regulating the menstrual cycle and ovulation.

During pregnancy reflexology can be used to gently and safely relieve symptoms such as back pain, sciatica, nausea, fatigue and acid reflux.

It has also been traditionally used to turn breach babies with a high success rate between 34 and 36 weeks. After 37 weeks this drops significantly so a course of at least 6 treatments from 32 weeks is recommended to give maximum benefit and to promote a healthy natural labour.

More than 75% of first babies arrive after their due date. Reflexology can be used to help gently induce labour which can in many cases save the expectant mother from the anxiety and stress of an artificial induction.

Post-natal reflexology helps to restore the mother’s general health and immune system after birth. Post-operative studies have shown that reflexology promotes tissue health, so can be beneficial after trauma or caesarean section.
